COVID-19 Surgical Questions

Do i need to see a surgeon now?

There are many surgical problems that can get worse with time. Some surgical problems can be true emergencies and should not wait. Through a Telehealth or an in-office visit, we can help you decide if your surgical problem needs treatment now.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should seek medical advice:

  • Worsening abdominal pain

  • Painful bulging in your abdomen or groin

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Fever

  • Skin redness and swelling

  • Drainage from your skin

  • Yellowing of the skin and eyes

We can help you decide if you need to see a surgeon now or can get you an appointment for the future.

Should I go to the emergency room?

We can discuss your symptoms with a Telehealth visit to help decide if it is appropriate for you to go to a local emergency room. We can often order imaging studies and lab work through our office instead of sending you to the emergency room.

IS it safe to have surgery now?

For procedures that are necessary, it is safe to have procedures now. Many of our patients can have their procedure in an outpatient surgery center instead of a hospital. There are very few patients at these facilities now, so you are not exposed to as many people and is often a safe option. All patients and providers are screened daily at these facilities to help keep you safe.

Can i schedule my surgery now?

We are still performing necessary, urgent procedures now. For surgery that is safe to delay, we can still schedule your procedure for a future date.

Are you seeing new patients?

Yes. We are still seeing new patients in our offices. We can also do a Telehealth visit if you are unable to come to the office.
